Record and anti-record years in marriage and divorce

According to the report of the State Statistics Committee, in 2025, there were 4.7 marriages and 2 divorces per 1000 people in Azerbaijan. Medianews.az reports that these figures are the second worst since the restoration of state independence in 1991.

The lowest marriage rate corresponds to 2020 during the coronavirus pandemic wave when weddings were banned: 3.5 marriages per 1000 people.

4.7 marriages per 1000 people is the second lowest rate and was recorded in both 1999 and 2025.

The highest rate in 1991 was 10.4 marriages per 1000 people.

The highest divorce rates in 35 years were officially recorded in 2023 and 2024: 2.1 divorces per 1000 people.

The lowest rate was recorded in 1999: 0.6 divorces per 1000 people.
