There are unknown aspects of death in the metro.

On April 21 at 12:10, a malfunction in supplying high voltage to the contact rail between the "Ulduz" and "Narimanov" stations of the Baku metro led to the temporary closure of all stations. At 15:00, the metro resumed operations, but in the evening – at 20:20 – a tragedy occurred at the "28 May" station: a passenger who fell onto the tracks died.

In the statement from "Baku Metro" Closed Joint Stock Company regarding the incident at "28 May," it is stated that as soon as the passenger fell onto the tracks, the high voltage was immediately turned off from the contact rail and an emergency medical team was called to the scene; despite the doctors' efforts, it was impossible to save the passenger's life.

According to the metro's information, after the high voltage was restored, the train was sent along the track without passengers and was sent from "Narimanov" station to the electric depot. This incident also caused additional delays in the interval of train movements that evening.

The Medical Territorial Units Management Association (TƏBİB) also released information on the matter. It was noted that on April 21 around 20:30, a call was received from the "28 May" station of the Baku metro to the Republic Emergency and Urgent Medical Aid Center: "The emergency medical team sent to the call address recorded the pre-medical death of a person born in 2004 (male)."

Journalists learned the full name and patronymic of the deceased young man from the Ministry of Internal Affairs: Elnur Ilgar oglu Agayev.

Why did the 21-year-old young man fall onto the tracks?

From the official information, the use of the word "fell" instead of "tripped" implies that Elnur Agayev did not trip onto the tracks but fell on his own.

Then what caused the sudden death? Was he hit by the train or by the high-voltage electric current? Perhaps Elnur suffered a severe trauma, for example, a head injury?

To find answers to these questions, Medianews.az contacted several official bodies, but it was not possible to clarify the matter.

From "Baku Metro," they told the website that inquiries about the cause of the passenger's death should be directed to the relevant agency – TƏBİB.

TƏBİB stated that there was pre-medical death, meaning Elnur Agayev had died before the doctors arrived at the scene, and the doctors only recorded this fact; they do not know the cause.

The Ministry of Health reported that the cause of death should be asked from law enforcement agencies.

Medianews.az also approached law enforcement agencies but did not receive a response.
