A few days ago, a soldier of the Syrian Arab Army cut and displayed the braid of a killed Kurdish woman.
“Qafqazinfo” reports that this incident was met with protest among Kurdish women, and the grievances quickly spread on social networks in a short time.
Thus, Kurdish women living in Turkey, Iraq, as well as in Western countries created a trend by braiding their hair, thereby starting a protest campaign. Hundreds of women shared videos and photos on social media showing their braided hair. They also noted that this campaign was carried out as a response to the military operations conducted by the Al-Sharaa government in Syria against Kurds, especially Kurdish female fighters.
The mentioned video also received great support from female members of parliament from Turkey’s People's Equality and Democracy Party (DEM). For instance, DEM Party spokeswoman Ayşegül Doğan filmed a video in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey braiding her hair.
These videos were shared under the title “Every strand of our hair strengthens our resistance.”
In addition to politicians, Turkish artists also joined the protest. One of them was actress Belçin Bilgin. Photos were circulated showing that Turkish actress Sinem Kobal liked Bilgin’s post.
After these discussions, S. Kobal shared the Turkish flag and wrote these words: “There is no circumstance to like that video. How happy is the one who says I am Turk.”
