The act of an Israeli soldier destroying a statue of the Prophet Jesus caused a scandal.
Medianews.az reports that the incident took place in the Christian village of Debel in southern Lebanon. The Israeli army conducted an operation against the "Hezbollah" group in this village. A photo taken a few days after a ceasefire was reached between Israel and "Hezbollah" has sparked wide discussion on social media.
The photo shows an Israeli soldier removing a statue of the crucified Prophet Jesus and striking the statue's head with a sledgehammer.
The Israeli army confirmed the authenticity of the photo, emphasized that the soldier's behavior contradicts the army's values, stated that the incident will be investigated and action will be taken, and promised to support the local Christian community in restoring the statue.

Let us recall that at the end of February, the USA and Israel started a war against Iran. In March, "Hezbollah" supported Iran and launched an attack from Lebanon on Israel, to which the Israeli army responded by expanding military operations in southern Lebanon. A ceasefire was reached five weeks later in the war with Iran. A few days later, a ceasefire was also declared between "Hezbollah" and Israel. Although the ceasefire is in effect, incidents continue between the parties.
