As is known, after the assassination of Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, a temporary council was established to govern the country.
On the morning of March 1st, it was announced that the council consists of three members, and the names of two of them were disclosed: President Masoud Pezeshkian and the head of the judiciary Gholamhossein Mohseni-Ejei. It was also noted that one of the members of the Guardian Council will be included in the temporary council formed to govern the country.
Medianews.az reports that on the afternoon of March 1st, the name of the third member of the temporary council was also revealed. This is Ayatollah Alireza Arafi.
Iranian media reports that Alireza Arafi has already been included among the members of the Guardian Council and has been chosen as a member of the temporary council governing the country.
Alireza Arafi is the leader of the "Basij" forces and a member of the Assembly of Experts that elects the Supreme Leader in Iran.
The formation of a temporary council to govern the country in case of a vacancy in the supreme leadership is stipulated in the legislation of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
