Official institutions of the Islamic Republic of Iran have announced the official statistics of those killed in the protests that began on December 28 last year.
According to Medianews.az, the official announcement made on state television stated that 3,117 people were killed during the protests.
It was noted that 2,427 of the deceased were civilians and security force personnel.
The identities and status of the remaining individuals were not clarified.
It should be noted that this is the first time official statistics have been announced regarding the number of deaths in the protests.
The official figures are significantly lower than the numbers reported by human rights groups.
