China's technology giant Tencent has created a channel for cats and dogs left alone at home.
Medianews.az reports that the channel called "PetTV" broadcasts 24 hours a day.
The channel, which can be watched on the Tencent Video platform, was created so that pets do not feel lonely when their owners are not at home. The broadcast includes content such as footage of ducklings swimming and videos of dogs walking on the street.
The company states that the programs are not only for entertainment purposes but are also adapted to meet the sensory needs of animals. Colors, image refresh rate, and sound frequencies are optimized to suit the perception of cats and dogs.
According to research, 66 percent of dog owners leave the television on when they leave the house. "PetTV" aims to turn this habit into a more beneficial and animal-friendly experience. The channel is offered to paid subscribers.
The rapid development of the pet market in China stimulates such initiatives. According to forecasts, the sector's volume will reach 405 billion yuan (approximately 59 billion dollars) by 2028.
Last year, on average, a Chinese family spent more than 3,000 yuan for a dog and more than 2,000 yuan for a cat.
Media content aimed at pets is no longer limited to China alone. Platforms such as "DogTV" operating in the USA and meditation applications also prepare special content for animals. It is reported that Tencent plans to expand collaborations in this field in the future.
