These days, Armenia's former defense minister Seyran Ohanyan has made a statement regarding the Zangezur corridor or the Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity, which is to be entrusted to a US company. He stated that if they come to power, they will reconsider this agreement. In other words, the possibility of blocking this giant route overlaps with Russia's interests. Looking at the polluted television space of our northern neighbor, the official Moscow's position on the South Caucasus, especially concerning the Zangezur project, becomes clear.
In any case, the construction of this strategic Zangezur road will take place. The risks of fully realizing the project still remain. The revanchist forces in Armenia hope that the situation will change by gaining strength from Russia.
Wherever there is conflict or separatism in the former USSR space, Russia's hand is immediately seen there. Cooperation with neighboring states is possible not by sowing seeds of separatism or by threatening, but only by principles accepted by the world legal system.
It is already an axiom that no crime goes unpunished. In this regard, there are enough facts to prove the crimes committed by Seyran Ohanyan, Robert Kocharyan, and Serzh Sargsyan in the Khojaly genocide.
Serious steps must be taken to involve these persons and others, who have committed war crimes and ordered the killing of hundreds of peaceful Azerbaijanis, in the investigation. Allowing such scoundrels to remain at large is a disrespect to international law and a threat to stability in the region. Therefore, the scope of the investigation must be expanded.
In order for Armenians to abandon their many unsuccessful traditional experiences, internationally recognized and accepted experts should be involved in the investigation work.
