Loading of Kazakhstan oil at the Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC) sea terminal has been temporarily suspended following an attack carried out by unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) on two tankers.
On July 19, during loading operations, the ASIA and NISSOS IOS tankers transporting oil produced in Kazakhstan were attacked.
The attack caused fires on the ships. Thanks to the prompt response of the crews, the fire was extinguished in a short time. No injuries were reported during the incident, and no oil was spilled into the sea.
According to the ministry, the terminal’s floating loading arms – VPU-1 and VPU-3 – were not damaged. Nevertheless, loading operations have been halted until the full extent of the incident's consequences is assessed.
Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Energy has deemed attacks against civil facilities of critical energy infrastructure unacceptable.
It was noted that the use of force against international energy infrastructure poses a serious threat to global energy security, disrupts the international supply chain of energy resources, and harms the economic interests of project participants.//report
