Our habit of drinking water bottles forgotten in the car during summer months is a health risk.
Medianews.az reports that experts state drinking water from plastic bottles left in hot conditions is dangerous.
Microplastics and chemicals leak from plastic bottles
According to research, plastic bottles, especially PET bottles intended for single use, release microplastics and harmful chemicals under high temperatures and ultraviolet (UV) radiation. These particles mix into the water and can enter the body.
The effect of microplastics on the body
These very small particles (especially nanoplastics) can pass into the liver, kidneys, brain, heart, and even placenta and breast milk. Experts say that the long-term effects of these substances are not fully studied, but caution is important.
Experts recommend using water containers made of glass and stainless steel. Because even reusable plastic containers under certain conditions release the same harmful substances.
Protect from heat and sunlight
If you must store a plastic bottle in the car, keep it away from sunlight, in the refrigerator or in a shaded place. This way, the risk of harmful substances spreading decreases.
The same danger exists in food containers
Plastic food containers can also release microplastics and mix into food when left under the sun for a long time. At the same time, it is important to check the expiration dates of plastic spice containers because this date often indicates the validity period of the packaging material.
