An expert opinion has been revealed regarding foods that negatively affect brain health. Foodinfo.az, citing Sports.kz, reports that dietitian and nutrition specialist Sofiya Kovanova spoke about this in an interview with Aif.ru.
The specialist stated that foods that damage the walls of blood vessels particularly negatively affect brain function. According to her, such foods are mainly rich in sugar, harmful fats, and various additives. Sausage products, fast foods, and sweets are among these risky foods.
Kovanova noted that regular consumption of such foods weakens blood circulation in the brain vessels. As a result, the nutrition of brain cells is disrupted, and the regenerative ability of neurons decreases. Over time, this process may manifest itself as memory impairment.
The expert emphasized that in dementia, cognitive functions such as memory, thinking, speech, and spatial orientation gradually weaken. There is currently no universal treatment method available for this disease. Therefore, prevention is of special importance.
According to her, there are risk factors that can influence the development of dementia, and proper nutrition is at the forefront of these. A healthy diet helps protect the brain vessels. The dietitian added that priority should be given to natural and minimally processed products in the daily menu.
The specialist specifically emphasized that balanced nutrition plays an important role in protecting memory and overall brain health.
