Attention to those who want to buy a Chinese car! Transport expert warns

In recent years, Chinese cars have also started to become widespread in the Azerbaijani market. While some prefer them due to their low price, many still hesitate regarding quality. Although modern models are said to have advanced in terms of technology and design, questions remain about reliability and durability. Are Chinese cars of poor quality?

Regarding the topic, transport expert Elmaddin Muradli told Medianews that Chinese cars are not of poor quality, but this does not apply to all models.

According to him, some models are considered risky and acquiring them can be dangerous:

“There are companies operating in Azerbaijan that officially import, sell Chinese cars and offer them with 5-6 year warranties. I see no problem buying such cars. The problem is that people order models via the internet whose origin they do not know or recognize, and then claim their rights have been violated. I mean, why do you buy a car whose origin and source you do not know? Some buyers choose the car because it is cheap, the interior is comfortable, and the design is attractive. These are the worst options in car buying, and sometimes people naively select these options. But this is absolutely not correct; such an approach is absolutely unacceptable, risky, and dangerous when buying a car. Therefore, everyone should be aware of this.”

He also noted that there are quite well-known Chinese car brands available in Azerbaijan and they are sold with official warranties:

“Even Chinese models of traditional cars are presented in our country. For example, other models produced by Toyota, Mercedes, BMW for China are already being sold in Azerbaijan. However, official distributors do not provide guarantees for these cars because they are intended for the China region.”

E. Muradli emphasized that some buyers choose these models because of the low price, but later face serious financial losses due to engine and battery problems:

“For example, if you bought Toyota’s Chinese version, you could lose 8-10 thousand manats. The same problem applies to other models. For instance, Chery's Jetour cars are sold by official dealers in Azerbaijan. But some buyers bring them unofficially, directly from China. When an accident occurs, these individuals turn to official distributors and demand spare parts like doors or front windows. However, the distributor does not provide them because they weren't purchased through official sources. Therefore, it is always necessary to turn to official services. Cars brought unofficially not only create problems in obtaining spare parts but can also cause serious risks in the engine and transmission. Any issue with the car’s main parts can result in losses of 10-15 thousand manats. Therefore, it is important to be cautious.”
