As is known, a meeting was held between US President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
During the meeting held at the Mar-a-Lago residence in the state of Florida, the parties talked for more than 3 hours.
Before the meeting, Donald Trump spoke on the phone with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin.
Political commentator Mahammad Asadullazadeh told Medianews.az that Putin's next phone call with Trump before Trump's meeting with Zelensky was intended to disrupt this process: “The phone conversation between Putin and Trump lasted one hour. The purpose of this phone call was to give Trump new promises and to preemptively spoil any agreement with Zelensky. In October, when Zelensky visited the US, Trump's special representative Whitkoff advised Putin that Zelensky should call Trump before reaching the White House. Because of that call from Putin, Zelensky's talks with Trump ended inconclusively. The same process is happening now. Putin has enough influence over Trump's political decisions. Whitkoff also helps him in this work.”
According to M. Asadullazadeh, Putin does not allow Trump and Zelensky to reach an agreement: “It seems these talks will have no results either. Because Trump once again emphasized that he had a good conversation with Putin. On the other hand, Putin continuously strikes Kyiv with ballistic missiles.
If the fate of the negotiations with Ukraine depends on Trump's son-in-law Kushner and Whitkoff, who is lobbying for Russia, Moscow’s position will strengthen.
Let me note that Secretary of State Rubio has been removed from the negotiation process because his stance is focused on defending Ukraine. The Pentagon is also not involved in these talks.
Three people who have no political connection and serve their business interests are negotiating with Moscow. Putin also benefits from this trio.
Great Britain and the European Union can free Ukraine from these business deals.”
