Scientists at the University of Florida have determined that a healthy and balanced lifestyle can rejuvenate not only the body but also the brain.
According to Milli.Az, 128 middle-aged and elderly men participated in a two-year study. Experts analyzed their brain activity through MRI scans and artificial intelligence, comparing it to their chronological age.
The results showed that certain daily habits can reduce the brain's "biological age" by up to 8 years.
The scientists identified the main factors that create this effect as follows:
Avoiding smoking
Controlling body shape (waist circumference not exceeding 80 cm for women and 94 cm for men)
Positive thinking and optimism
Minimizing stress
Having strong social connections, family and friend support
Quality and sufficient sleep
The head of the study, University of Florida associate professor Kimberly Sibill, stated that these habits help maintain both physical health and brain functions in the long term:
"A healthy lifestyle is a natural method that keeps the brain young. It slows aging and keeps memory active," she emphasized.
