Egypt's Foreign Minister Badr Abdulati discussed the increasing tensions in the region and US-Iran relations during phone talks with his counterparts from Turkey, Oman, and Pakistan. The parties emphasized that dialogue and diplomacy are the only way out for reducing tensions and finding a lasting solution.
Medianews.az reports, citing the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, that Abdulati spoke separately with Omani counterpart Badr al-Busaidi, Turkey's Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, and Pakistan's Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar.
The meetings discussed the regional situation, efforts to reduce tensions, and the progress of US-Iran negotiations.
The ministers noted the importance of coordination to ensure diplomatic contacts bear fruit, emphasizing the significance of a concrete agreement to prevent a possible war.
Nonetheless, uncertainty remains in the negotiations. Despite the previously reached temporary ceasefire, subsequent meetings have ended without results. The Iranian side stated that participation in new talks is in question if the US continues its actions in the Strait of Hormuz. Official Tehran has also announced that there is no precise plan yet regarding the second phase.
