Portugal national team's midfielder Bruno Fernandes shared his thoughts about the 2026 World Cup.
Medianews.az reports that the footballer stated the main goal of his team is to become world champion. According to him, although Portugal has not won this title so far, the current squad has enough potential to achieve it.
“Becoming world champion is our biggest dream. We must direct all our attention to what we need to do to bring this trophy, which Portugal has not been able to win until now, to our country,” Fernandes said.
The experienced midfielder also spoke about the national team's captain, Cristiano Ronaldo. He emphasized that Ronaldo holds great importance both as a teammate and as a symbol of the country's football.
“Having Ronaldo with us is a great honor. He is a player who can help us succeed in the World Cup. I think there are always things to learn from him,” Fernandes added.
The Portugal national team will play its first match in the World Cup on June 17 against the Democratic Republic of Congo. The team will then face Uzbekistan and Colombia in the group stage.
