Proper nutrition for the brain: What should be eaten during the day to prevent dementia?

Proper nutrition is becoming increasingly important for maintaining brain health and preventing memory decline. Experts report that including certain foods in the daily diet helps protect brain cells and strengthen mental functions.

Medianews.az citing Foodinfo.az reports that scientists have developed a special dietary model based on products that can reduce the risk of dementia and support memory.

According to the information, in recent years dementia has begun to be observed not only in the elderly but also in younger people. Especially during Alzheimer's disease, neurons in the brain gradually deteriorate and memory-related problems arise. Research shows that one of the important substances involved in this process is acetylcholine deficiency.

Scientists believe it is possible to protect brain function and reduce these risks through nutrition. For this, the daily menu must definitely include various colorful fruits and vegetables, fatty fish, legumes, leafy greens, olive oil, and nuts. At the same time, sugar, ready-made sausage products, carbonated drinks, and fast food are considered harmful to the brain.

For breakfast, an egg dish prepared with bell pepper, spinach, and tomato is recommended. Adding turmeric or saffron to this dish not only enhances the taste but also has a beneficial effect on the brain. Unsweetened black coffee can be chosen as a beverage.

At lunch, fatty fish should be the main choice. It is advisable to use legumes, vegetables, and whole grain bread alongside it. A light salad made from apple, grape, walnut, celery, and leafy greens can also be added to the menu.

A vegetable-based curry is considered ideal for dinner. This dish, prepared with zucchini, cabbage, broccoli, carrot, chickpeas, and tomato, is both filling and beneficial for the brain. It is recommended to use cinnamon and ginger as spices and choose brown rice as a side dish.

Experts emphasize that such balanced nutrition can significantly contribute to memory preservation and strengthening brain health over the long term.
