GDP of Azerbaijan: The First Quarter and the Near Future

According to the report of the State Statistics Committee, in January-March, 29 billion 703.2 million manats worth of gross domestic product (GDP) was produced in Azerbaijan, which is a 0.3 percent decrease compared to the first quarter of 2025; a 1.2 percent decline was recorded in the oil and gas sector, and a 0.2 percent increase in the non-oil/gas sector.

Medianews.az reports that the GDP fell in 3 of the last 32 years in the country. A decrease of 11.8 percent was recorded in 1995, 3.1 percent in 2016, and 4.2 percent in 2020.

GDP grew by 1.3 percent in 1996, 5.8 percent in 1997, 10 percent in 1998, 7.4 percent in 1999, 11.1 percent in 2000, 9.9 percent in 2001, 10.6 percent in 2002, 11.2 percent in 2003, 10.2 percent in 2004, 26.4 percent in 2005, 34.5 percent in 2006, 25 percent in 2007, 10.8 percent in 2008, 9.3 percent in 2009, and 5 percent in 2010.

It ended with an increase of 0.1 percent in 2011, 2.2 percent in 2012, 5.8 percent in 2013, 2.8 percent in 2014, 1.1 percent in 2015, 0.2 percent in 2017, 1.5 percent in 2018, 2.5 percent in 2019, 5.6 percent in 2021, 4.6 percent in 2022, 1.1 percent in 2023, 4.1 percent in 2024, and 1.4 percent in 2025.
