A scholar known for his harsh stance against Azerbaijan in Armenia has been granted a high academic status in Iran.
Musavat.com reports that Vardan Voskanyan, head of the Iranology Department at the Faculty of Oriental Studies of Yerevan State University and a professor, has been selected as an honorary member of Iran's Academy of Persian Language and Literature.
According to information, the relevant certificate was presented on February 24 at a ceremony held at Yerevan State University by Khalil Shirgholami, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic to Armenia.
It should be noted that Voskanyan's public speeches and social media posts have repeatedly been accompanied by openly anti-Azerbaijani rhetoric. In this regard, the awarding of such a person with a high academic status by official Tehran attracts attention and raises questions: For which specific scientific or cultural services was Voskanyan selected as an honorary member by the Iranian side?
