Scientists have revealed that garlic is a strong agent against mosquitoes.
Medianews.az reports that a study on this was published in the journal "Cell".
Some substances in garlic not only repel insects, but also weaken their ability to reproduce. During the research, scientists tested the effect of various fruits and vegetables on insects. As a result, it was found that garlic almost completely stops mosquitoes and fruit flies from mating and laying eggs.
The study identified diallyl disulfide as the main active substance. This substance causes an avoidance reaction in mosquitoes and weakens their reproductive behavior.
Experts believe that creams and natural remedies made from garlic extract could be a safer alternative to chemical insecticides in the future.
