3500 manat worth of caviar - the expensive face of luxurious luxury food

Recently, prices of natural caviar, considered one of the most expensive food products on the market, have attracted attention. According to Medianews.az, based on conducted research, the price of caviar varies significantly depending on its type, quality, and origin.

According to experts, black caviar obtained particularly from sturgeon ranks among the most expensive products. In Azerbaijan, the price of one kilogram of natural caviar offered for sale starts at approximately 1200 manat and can rise up to 2500 manat, and in some cases, even up to 3500 manat.

Along with that, prices in small packages are also quite high. For example, the price of 100–113 grams of black caviar ranges approximately between 200–360 manat.

According to official data, the average price of black caviar exported by Azerbaijan also remains high. At certain times, the export price of 1 kilogram of caviar has been recorded at around 1900 manat.

Experts state that the main reasons for the high price are the decline in the number of sturgeon fish, limited production, and the difficulty of obtaining the product. Additionally, it is emphasized that alongside natural caviar, cheaper "artificial caviar" is also sold on the market, but their quality and nutritional value differ.

Experts advise consumers to pay attention to the origin and certification of the product when buying caviar. Because many products offered at low prices are not natural, which can pose risks both in terms of quality and health.

It should be noted that natural caviar is still considered an elite and expensive food product in Azerbaijan and is not accessible to the wider population.
