32 years have passed since the terrorist act committed by Armenian terrorists on March 19, 1994, at the "20 Yanvar" metro station of Baku Metro.
"Report" informs that a timer mechanism bomb placed in the front car of the train went off when the train stopped at the station.
As a result of the explosion, 14 people died and 49 were injured. Among the deceased was Azerbaijani People's Artist Rafiq Babayev.
The judicial authorities proved that the terrorist act at the metro station was prepared by the Armenian special services and carried out by members of the separatist "Sadval" Lezgi organization.
Eleven members of the "Sadval" Lezgi National Movement suspected of committing the crime were arrested. Two of them were sentenced to death, and nine were given various terms of imprisonment. The executor of the terrorist act, Oqtay Gurbanov, died during the explosion.
