Cornelian cherry helps to protect against stroke

Regular consumption of cornelian cherry reduces the risk of stroke.

In a health program hosted by Doctor Sergey Agapkin, cornelian cherry was mentioned as an effective means of protecting against stroke.

Stroke is a life-threatening condition caused by impaired blood flow to the brain due to thrombosis or rupture of a blood vessel:

"Regular consumption of cornelian cherry helps reduce the risk of stroke by 10-17%."

Another specialist, Doctor of Medical Sciences Anatoli Skalny, also spoke about the significant benefits of cornelian cherry in the diet.

Professor Skalny noted that among the important benefits of the berry are its high doses of manganese (100 grams of cornelian cherry contains the daily requirement) and copper (the same amount provides 15% of the body's daily requirement).

Experts clarified that the abundant manganese in cornelian cherry ensures vascular health: its deficiency is associated with high cholesterol and the development of atherosclerotic plaques. Another trace element in the berry, copper, is responsible for preventing inflammatory processes.

Sergey Agapkin listed three natural ways to increase blood pressure for those with low blood pressure.

"Cornelian cherry also contains anthocyanin pigments responsible for the vivid color of berries. They reduce inflammation in the vessel walls and stabilize blood pressure," added Doctor Agapkin.

Doctors recommend selecting small berries when buying berries, even if they are not attractive – they contain a high concentration of substances that promote healthy blood vessels and prevent strokes.
