Zaur Nakhchivanski is a “legitimate thief,” or...

It seems that Russian investigators want to impose a severe punishment on Zaur Shpilov by confirming the charge of "legitimate thief" in court

We had reported on the start of the trial of Azerbaijani "legitimate thief" Zaur Shpilov, known as Zaur Nakhchivanski, at the Orenburg Regional Court. Medianews.az recalling with reference to Musavat.com that 36-year-old Zaur Shpilov, born in 1985 in the city of Orenburg, Russia, is the son of Bayram Talibov, considered one of the influential authorities in the criminal world. Shpilov's father was killed in April 2006 in an assassination alongside Hikmat Mukhtarov, known as Hikmat from Sabirabad.

Picture backgroundZaur Nakhchivanski is also known as the "godson" of Rovshan Lankanski. It is noted that when Shpilov’s father was murdered, 21-year-old Zaur was under the protection of Rovshan Lankanski at that time. He is now accused because he received the status of "legitimate thief" in the summer of 2013 while in Turkey. According to the Russian Criminal Code, this status carries a prison sentence ranging from 8 to 15 years. Previously, claiming "I am a legitimate thief" was a necessity, but now, especially in court, such a "confession" is unnecessary. Therefore, in the previous procedure, Zaur Nakhchivanski had denied in front of three employees of the Federal Penitentiary Service on camera that he was a "legitimate thief". It appears that Russian investigators want to confirm the charge of "legitimate thief" and impose a severe sentence on Zaur Shpilov.

In the recent court process, materials about Shpilov from social media were presented. These include Shpilov’s posts and photos in relevant communities, including the "Thieves in Law" group on "VKontakte" with tens of thousands of subscribers. His photos were posted there along with writings related to his nickname. Several witnesses did not attend the court. The next hearing is scheduled for March 31.
