Aggression in a dream – Early warning signal

Doctors warn that some chronic sleep problems can indicate the development of dementia in the brain.

Medianews.az reporting with reference to “Huffpost” presents the four main sleep problems noted by specialists:

Severe insomnia – frequent nighttime awakenings and daytime sleepiness are observed in Alzheimer’s disease.

Sleeping at unusual times – staying awake at night and sleeping a lot during the day due to disruption of circadian rhythm.

Behavioral disorders during sleep – a person may scream, move, or even jump out of bed and exhibit aggressive reactions in sleep.

Night walking – wandering around the house, accompanied by confusion and anxiety, known as “sundown syndrome.”

Doctors emphasize that these symptoms may indicate the early stages of dementia, but not every sleep problem means dementia. It is recommended to consult a neurologist or sleep specialist in cases of long-term and worsening sleep disorders.
