The mandate distribution in Japan has been finalized.

The mandate distribution in the lower house of the Japanese parliament has been clarified.

Medianews.az reports that in the February 8 election, the Liberal Democratic Party of Prime Minister Sanae Takaiti secured 316 seats in the 465-member House of Representatives, while the coalition partner - Innovation Party obtained 36 seats.

The Centrist Reform Alliance took 49, the Democratic Party 28, the Sanseitō Party 15, the Mirai Team 11, the Communist Party 4, the Japan and Yukoku Alliance 1, the Reiwa Shinsengumi Party 1, and independents gained 4 mandates.

Japan is a constitutional monarchy. Since 2019, Emperor Naruhito has reigned. The government in the country is formed based on the power ratio in the parliament.

Sanae Takaiti, born in 1961, has been Prime Minister since October 21, 2025.

176 members of the House of Representatives are elected by proportional representation (according to party lists), and 289 members receive mandates through the majoritarian system (from districts).

The 248-member upper house – the House of Councillors – is also elected by a mixed method. The ruling team is in the minority in this house.
