Inclusivity issues were given special attention at the World Urban Forum (WUF13).
Medianews.az reports that the president of the Union of Organizations for the Disabled, Davud Rahimli, stated that both at WUF13 and previously held COP29 events, a high level of conditions was created for an inclusive society.
According to him, all opportunities for people with mobility restrictions, visually impaired individuals, and participants using wheelchairs were taken into account within the forum space:
“Comfortable access and exit were ensured in the areas where the forum was held and in the conference halls. There are no barriers to movement. The calls made here will have positive effects in the future.”
Baku resident Zinyat Valiyeva emphasized that inclusivity was organized at a high level within the forum framework. She noted that thanks to special “shuttle” transportation and the created conditions, people with disabilities can comfortably participate in the events: “Starting from the special shuttle transports, we can comfortably attend all stands and conferences. People with disabilities can come to the forum venue with peace of mind during these days. Comfortable transport and an accessible environment have been provided.”
Zinyat Valiyeva added that she took part in panels and dialogues on inclusive urban planning held within the forum and became acquainted with useful examples applied in world practice:
“Important calls were made worldwide to ensure that children with disabilities do not face difficulties in the future. I believe that the problems will be solved over time.”
