How will passengers pay at stations without a fare recognition system? - OFFICIAL STATEMENT

"At ADY’s stations without the "SİMA Pay" - face recognition payment system, it will be possible to use barcodes."

Medianews.az reports that this information was provided by "Azerbaijan Railways" (ADY) JSC in response to a query from Oxu.Az.

The organization responded to the question "If there is 'SİMA Pay' at point A, but not at point B, how should the passenger make the payment?" as follows:

"Passengers can pay by barcode at stations that do not have the face recognition payment system. The face recognition system is integrated into ADY’s mobile application. Citizens can update the app to activate this feature.

If the 'SİMA Pay' payment system is available at point A, the passenger makes the payment and enters the station. Upon exit, if 'SİMA Pay' is not available, they must make the payment using the app’s barcode.

Conversely, it is possible to pay by barcode to enter the station and then pay by face recognition when exiting. For barcode activation, there must be a minimum balance of 2.40 manats."

It should be noted that, as of today, the "SİMA Pay" - face recognition payment system is being implemented for the first time in Azerbaijan’s public transport sector on the railways. Initially, the face recognition payment system can be used at the turnstiles of Baku Railway Station, Sumqayıt Railway Station, and the "Koroğlu" stop. It is reported that in the next phase, this modern service is planned to be offered at all stations and stops along the Absheron circular route, as well as throughout the railway network nationwide.
