Children will not be able to use social networks - In this COUNTRY

The bill restricting the use of social media by individuals under the age of 15 has been approved in the Senate in France.

According to Medianews.az, the French Senate, which is the upper chamber of the country's parliament, discussed the bill at the General Assembly meeting held in Paris and put it to a vote.

As a result of the voting, the senators approved the document and also supported the amendments made by the committee.

According to the bill, access to social media platforms for individuals under the age of 15 will be prohibited under certain conditions. The document states that platforms that might negatively affect the physical, mental, and moral development of young people can be completely restricted for this age group.

Moreover, access to other social media services will only be possible with the consent of at least one parent. Additionally, there will be an obligation for platforms to verify the age of users.

The bill will be discussed in the next stage by a joint committee consisting of senators and deputies. Here, the parties will try to reach an agreement on a unified text.

It should be noted that for the law to come into effect in France, both the Senate and the National Assembly, which is the lower chamber of parliament, must agree on the same text. Previously, in the version adopted by the National Assembly on January 26, the social media ban was envisaged to apply to all platforms for those under 15 years old./Qafqazinfo
