Turkey's Banking Regulation and Supervision Agency has imposed restrictions on cash withdrawals from credit cards during nighttime hours.
According to Qafqazinfo, this measure was taken due to the increase in cyberattacks on banking systems and fraud cases.
According to the new rules, from 22:00 in the evening until 06:00 in the morning, identity verification will be required to withdraw cash from credit cards. Specifically, the card must have an ID-chip, and the user's phone must support NFC technology.
In other cases, cash withdrawals will only be possible during daytime hours when restrictions are lifted.
According to the publication, with the increase in credit card limits and the spread of mobile banking, incidents of fraudsters breaking into user accounts and conducting transactions at night have increased. The new measure is expected to prevent such cases.
