Medianews.az has looked at the updated balance of power in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey.
The 600-member parliament currently has 592 members.
The ruling Justice and Development Party holds 275 legislative seats, and its main ally – the Nationalist Movement Party holds 47 mandates.
The main opposition body, the Republican People's Party, is represented with 138 seats.
The Peoples' Equality and Democracy Party has 56, the Good Party 30, the New Path Party, formed as a faction by the Democracy and Leap, Future and Felicity parties, holds a total of 21 seats; the Free Cause Party has 4, the Re-Welfare Party 4, the Workers' Party of Turkey 3, the Democratic Regions Party 2, the Labor Party 2, the Democratic Party 1, and the Democratic Left Party 1 seat each.
Eight members of the Assembly are independent (non-partisan).
The chairman of the Justice and Development Party, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, served as prime minister since 2003 and was elected president in 2014, 2018, and 2023.
