The war of words between US President Donald Trump and Italy's Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni shows no signs of abating.
Medianews.az reports that ahead of the NATO Summit to be held in Ankara, Donald Trump shared a photo on his social media account shaking hands with Giorgia Meloni, writing the words, "A distancing decision is needed."
This post is considered the next stage of the mutual accusations ongoing between the two leaders in recent weeks.
The scandal began after Trump's interview on June 19 with Italy's La7 television channel. Referring to the G7 Summit held in France, the US president claimed that Giorgia Meloni insisted on taking a photo with him.
"She was begging to take a picture with me. Actually, I wasn’t going to agree; I just felt sorry for her," Trump said.
Giorgia Meloni responded to these words on her social media account the same day, emphasizing, "One thing must not be forgotten: neither I nor Italy ever beg anyone," she stressed.
