Famous Azerbaijani art critic and member of the Saint Petersburg Writers' Union Irada Berg has passed away at the age of 53.
According to Milli.Az, the press service of the city's Culture Committee announced this.
"Irada Tofiq gizi Berg (Vovnenko) has passed away. We extend our deepest condolences to her family and loved ones. Her memory will live in the hearts of her colleagues, friends, and everyone touched by her creativity," the statement said.
The cause of Irada Berg's death and details about the farewell ceremony have not yet been disclosed.
Irada Berg was born on January 5, 1973, in Saint Petersburg into the family of architect and mathematician Tofiq Hasanov. Her father Tofiq Hasanov grew up in a large family and, after losing his parents at an early age, was raised in an orphanage. After graduating from the Baku Polytechnic Institute, he continued his education in Leningrad (now Saint Petersburg) and started a family there.
Since 2003, Irada Berg worked in the international department of the "Tsarskoye Selo" museum-reserve and participated in the restoration project of the famous "Amber Room." During those years, she was also the organizer of charity children's balls at the Catherine Palace.
In 2006, she published her first book for children titled "Magic Kaleidoscope. Petka's Journey to the Land of History."
From 2009, Irada Berg actively participated in the activities of the Isaac Church and since 2013 had headed the foreign relations and cultural projects department of the "Isaac Church" museum complex. From 2015, she served as the head of the exhibition and international cooperation department and later acted as director.
