In Iraq, during a large-scale anti-corruption operation, a search was conducted at the house of MP Hind al-Abbasi.
Medianews.az reports that during the search, it is alleged that 57 million US dollars in cash, 27 kilograms of pure gold, and gold-made underwear were discovered in the MP's house.
According to the information, 47 people, including MPs and high-ranking officials, have been detained within the framework of the investigation. The operation is said to be part of an inquiry into allegations of embezzlement of state funds and corruption.
However, Iraq's official institutions have not yet made a confirming statement regarding the search said to have been conducted at Hind al-Abbasi’s residence and the items allegedly seized. Her status as an MP is listed on the official website of the Iraqi parliament.
In recent days, raids have been conducted in various regions of the country, including Baghdad, as part of the large-scale anti-corruption operations initiated by the government in Iraq. During the operations, MPs, high-ranking state officials, and other public servants have been targeted.
Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi stated that the fight against corruption will continue and that the operations may encompass new individuals as well.
