The US is increasing pressure on Iran in the dispute over its nuclear program. US President Donald Trump is surprised by Tehran's lack of response so far. This was stated by his special envoy Steve Witkoff in an interview with the "Fox News" channel.
According to Medianews.az, Steve Witkoff said that Iran "does not surrender" despite the US's increased military presence in the region and ongoing threats.
According to Witkoff, Trump "is interested" in the position of the Iranian government, as he had warned about serious consequences if no agreement was reached on Iran's nuclear program.
In his interview, Witkoff said: “I don’t want to use the word 'disappointed,' because President Trump knows he has many alternatives, but it is interesting why they — I don’t want to say 'surrendered' — but why they have not surrendered? Considering all this pressure and the naval forces present there, why haven’t they approached us?”
Witkoff emphasized that convincing the Iranian leadership to back down is "somewhat difficult.”
