Relocation of monuments in Shusha to another location without approval will be prohibited.
Medianews.az reports, citing Report, that a proposal has been made to amend the law "On the cultural capital of Azerbaijan – the city of Shusha" in this regard.
The draft was brought up for discussion at today's meeting of the Parliament's Culture Committee.
It was reported that the bill was prepared for the purpose of harmonizing relevant legislation, including changes to the Criminal Code, Administrative Offenses Code, the "On the Protection of Historical and Cultural Monuments" and "On Culture" laws, aimed at clarifying provisions related to the protection of monuments in the city of Shusha.
The document prohibits damaging or destroying monuments, relocating them to another place without approval from the relevant executive authority or assigned body, as well as conducting construction-installation, restoration, reconstruction, conservation works, or landscaping events that violate their integrity and threaten their safety.
It was noted that the adoption of the proposed changes will serve to ensure consistency among normative legal acts.
