In recent years, interest in breakfast sets at restaurants and cafes has increased significantly. Many establishments serve portions in their menus presented under the name "for 2 people" that are actually enough for more people to eat. Sometimes these sets are enough for 4-5 people.
Medianews.az reports that experts say this situation increases food waste. According to them, customers hesitate to ask for leftover food to be packed and think it would not be well received. As a result, a considerable amount of food remains unused on the table.
In some sets, the products served arrive at the table cold and are not ideal for consumption. Nevertheless, many customers do not openly express their dissatisfaction. In such cases, only a portion of the food is tasted, and the rest remains on the table to be thrown away.
According to experts, both restaurants should reconsider their portion sizes and people should accept packaging leftover food as a normal practice. Because when millions of people in the world are suffering from hunger, food waste remains a serious social problem.
