To Şahin Şıxlinski and his son The verdict has been read.

In Ural, a verdict has been delivered in the case of OMON officer being hit by a car involving Azerbaijani former diaspora leader Shahin Shikhlinski and his son Mutvali Shikhlinski.

Medianews.az reports that Shahin Shikhlinski was sentenced to 9 years in a strict regime colony for this episode.

However, it was taken into account that on March 5, he had already been sentenced to 22 years in prison for another criminal case related to murders committed 20 years ago. For this reason, the final sentence was determined to be 24 years.

Shahin Shikhlinski’s son, Mutvali Shikhlinski, was sentenced to 8 years in a general regime colony for the same case.

Recall that last June, Russian law enforcement agencies conducted an operation against Azerbaijanis in Yekaterinburg. Force was used during the operation, resulting in the deaths of two Azerbaijani brothers, Ziyaddin and Huseyn Safarov. Other Safarovs and several of our compatriots were arrested by court order. They were charged with crimes committed in 2001, 2010, and 2011. Later, the head of the Azerbaijani diaspora in Yekaterinburg, Shahin Shikhlinski, and his son Mutvali Shikhlinski were detained. On July 1, near "Baku Plaza," Federal Security Service (FSB) operatives, wearing unmarked clothing and using unmarked cars, attacked Shahin Shikhlinski, the head of the Azerbaijani diaspora in Yekaterinburg, and the car driven by his son. At that time, Mutvali Shikhlinski lost control and hit an FSB officer with the car he was driving. He stated in court that he regretted what had happened and did not commit the incident intentionally. On the day they were detained, Shahin and Mutvali Shikhlinski were released. Some time later, a criminal case was opened against them for the charge of using force against a government representative. Initially, Mutvali was detained, and later Shahin Shikhlinski was also detained, accused of contract murder and attempted contract murder. //Operative Media
