The son of Iran's former Shah Mohammad Reza Pahlavi, opposition political figure Reza Pahlavi, addressed the Iranian people in a video format.
Musavat.com reports that in his speech, Reza Pahlavi described the actions of the United States towards Iran as "humanitarian intervention."
"A new phase has opened before us. The aid promised by the President of the United States to the brave Iranian people has now arrived. This is humanitarian intervention and its target is the Islamic Republic, its repressive apparatus, and the killing machine — not Iran’s great country and its people.
However, despite the arrival of this aid, the final victory will again be written with our own hands. We — the Iranian people — are the ones who will finish the work in this last struggle. The time to return to the streets is approaching. Now that the Islamic Republic is on the verge of collapse, my message to the country's military, police, and security forces is clear: stand guard over Iran and the Iranian people, not over the Islamic Republic and its leaders.
Your duty is to protect the people, not a regime that has taken our homeland hostage through repression and crime. Join the people and support a stable, secure transition. Otherwise, you will sink together with Khamenei’s and the regime’s sinking ship."
Reza Pahlavi also addressed a message to U.S. President Trump:
"And my message to the President of the United States, Trump, is this: The honorable people of Iran have stood courageously for nearly two months despite the regime's brutal repression and massacres. I ask you to exercise maximum caution to protect the lives of civilians and my compatriots. The Iranian people are your natural allies and those of the free world, and I will never forget the assistance you have shown during the most difficult period of modern Iranian history."
