A controversial episode was recorded in the "Qarabağ" - "Athletic" match held within the third round of the UEFA Champions League.
According to "Qafqazinfo", in the 73rd minute of the match, Athletic Bilbao defender Yuri Berchiche played roughly against Qarabağ's player Mateus Silva in the penalty area.
However, the referee from Croatia, Igor Pajač, did not award a penalty.
Qarabağ's coach Gurban Gurbanov evaluated this episode as a turning point of the match during the post-match press conference:
"There are some episodes where it is necessary to be calmer and more precise. Perhaps, the penalty episode could have been the turning point of the match. Some said it was a penalty, some said no. That's true, I did not see it myself. Maybe today we deserved the defeat more."
