A terrible war involving 14 countries is going on in our neighborhood – Professor Qulu Maharramli

“A terrible war involving 14 countries is taking place in our neighborhood, the 90-million-strong Iran is being devastated, bombs are raining down on large cities targeted by the US and Israel, people are being killed, frightening scenarios are unfolding, and the entire East feels like it is sitting on a powder keg. We too have serious concerns for our neighbor Iran and the millions of our compatriots living there.”

Medianews.az reports that this is stated in a comment published by Qulu Maharramli, a professor at Baku State University and media expert, on his Facebook network.

Qulu Maharramli emphasizes:

“The current military situation is as follows: the war is deepening, expanding, and prolonging. The US and Israel, testing new kinds of missiles under combat conditions, strike Iran (mostly Tehran, other cities with military facilities) every day; Israel also bombs Lebanon because of Hezbollah. More than 200 fighter jets, Tomahawk missiles, bunker-busting bombs, and countless drones have been involved in the current battles.

The Iranian military does not seem as weak as expected; the IRGC strikes US military bases, embassies, oil refineries in Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Iraq, the United Arab Emirates, and Qatar with ballistic missiles, as well as Israeli cities. Tehran's restriction of oil tanker passage through the Strait of Hormuz further isolates it and provides grounds for the Arab countries’ joint participation in military operations against Iran. The United Kingdom has joined the war on the US-Israel side; the European Union and NATO have stated that they support military operations against Iran (but will not join the war). China has demanded that Iran open the gulf.

US President Donald Trump stated to the media yesterday that a significant part of Iran’s navy, army, and aviation has been disabled. However, it is clear that Iran is still militarily strong, although the ratio of forces and resources is unequal. Nevertheless, it is difficult to say how long the fierce missile battles will continue.”
