The preliminary results of the early parliamentary election held in Kyrgyzstan on November 30 have been announced.
According to Medianews.az, out of the 90 members elected to the legislative body, 30 are women.
Under the renewed election law, 3 people are elected from each of the 30 constituencies. A total of 460 candidates participated in the electoral race.
The previous parliament dissolved itself on September 25. Its 5-year term was supposed to end in November 2026.
Since 2021, Kyrgyzstan has switched to a presidential system, where the president is both the head of state and the head of government.
Previously, the country was a parliamentary republic, and the government, as the supreme executive body, was formed by the political force constituting more than half of the deputies in parliament. After Sadyr Japarov was elected president on January 10, 2021, the renewal of governance started in the country. His 5-year term expires on January 28, 2026. The dissolution of parliament arose from the desire to renew the deputy corps before the presidential elections.
