Russian President Vladimir Putin held a phone conversation with his Iranian counterpart Masoud Pezeshkian.
Medianews.az reports that, according to the Kremlin press service's statement, during the phone call the presidents discussed recent events in the Middle East.
The Iranian President evaluated the Iran-US talks held on April 11 in Islamabad and highly appreciated Russia's principled stance aimed at reducing tensions, including in international platforms.
Masoud Pezeshkian also thanked Russia for the humanitarian aid provided to the Iranian people.
Vladimir Putin emphasized his readiness to facilitate efforts to seek a political and diplomatic resolution to the conflict and to mediate efforts for the establishment of a just and lasting peace in the Middle East. He noted that for this purpose Russia will continue active contacts with all partners in the region.
During the discussion of current issues of bilateral cooperation, both sides reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthen friendly neighborhood relations in every aspect.
