Japanese scientists have determined that cats leave their food unfinished not only because they are full but also because they get used to the smell of the food.
Medianews.az reports that, according to the study, the same food smell reduces cats' appetite, while a new smell encourages them to eat again.
In an experiment conducted from 2023 to 2026, 12 healthy cats participated. The results showed that cats generally prefer small portions and frequent feeding. Scientists believe that understanding this mechanism could be useful to increase the appetite of sick cats.
