“The situation in Iran has become serious. The Shah's son has issued two appeals. In the first, he called on people to take to the streets; in the second, he called on the armed forces to side with the people.” Doctor of philosophy in history Javid Ismayil said this while commenting to Medianews.az on the mass protest actions spreading in the Islamic Republic of Iran.

He stated that the cities where Azerbaijanis live compactly have not joined the protests: “I consider this a correct tactic. Because today in Iran, the only legitimately elected authority representing the people is President Masoud Pezeshkian.
The foundation of the Pahlavi dynasty, represented by the Shah's son, was laid unlawfully from the start. Reza Pahlavi overthrew the Qajar dynasty illegally. Then Mohammad Reza Pahlavi who came to the throne suppressed the Azerbaijan National Government and Movement led by Seyid Jafar Pishavari in blood. It is not credible that Reza Pahlavi’s grandson will differ from them.”
J. Ismayil emphasized that there is no difference between the Pahlavis and the mullah regime for Azerbaijani Turks: “Both have pursued national-ethnic discrimination policies against our compatriots in the south, deprived us of the right to education in our mother tongue, and have sent tens of thousands of our compatriots demanding national rights to the point of no return.
Therefore, this time we must be alert and vigilant and not be used again by Persian chauvinism, which has deceived us since the Safavid era and succeeded in carrying out its ugly plans. Our limit for being deceived is over!”

The Pahlavi dynasty ruled Iran from 1925 to 1979. Reza Pahlavi is the eldest son of Mohammad Reza Pahlavi, the second and last Shah of Iran. He was born on October 31, 1960, in Tehran. He has been considered a prince since 1967. In 1978, he left Iran to undergo military training in the United States Air Force. A few months later, in 1979, the monarchy was overthrown as a result of the Islamic revolution, and Mohammad Reza Pahlavi fled the country together with the remaining members of his family. Since then, Reza Pahlavi has lived in the USA. He currently resides in Los Angeles. He obtained higher education in political science at the University of South Carolina.
The Islamic Republic of Iran was established in 1979 during the wave of the revolution. The supreme leader, who holds state head powers, is elected by the Assembly of Experts. Since June 3, 1989, this position has been held by Ali Khamenei, born in 1939. The Iranian president, who fulfills the function of head of government, is elected for a 4-year term by popular vote. Since July 28, 2024, Masoud Pezeshkian, born in 1954, is the president. The 290-member national parliament (Islamic Consultative Assembly) is elected every 4 years through a majoritarian system (by constituencies). The current parliament formed in the spring of 2024.
