What lies at the root of Pashinyan's statement? - Iran may target Armenia

Armenia's Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, in one of his recent statements, said that the construction of the "Trump road" could be delayed against the backdrop of the US-Iran war.

Political analyst Elkhan Shahinoglu told Medianews.az that, at first glance, Pashinyan with this statement wanted to say that Washington's war against Iran pushed the construction of the corridor into the background: "However, it is also possible to interpret Pashinyan's statement as an attempt to calm Tehran. Since the day the Second Karabakh War ended, the conservative forces in Iran have been saying, 'We are against the Zangezur corridor.' Their position is the same for the 'Trump road.' Even though Iran has launched drones and missiles here and there, it has not touched Armenia yet. However, the generals currently ruling Iran may also target Armenia.

It is true that Tehran has cooperated with the Armenian authorities for years, but Nikol Pashinyan's closeness to the West cannot fail to disturb circles in Iran. Pashinyan's leasing of the route passed by the "Trump road" to the US is also at the center of attention of Iranian generals. Therefore, those who shoot drones at Azerbaijan may also target Armenia. This would correspond to the interests of the forces in Russia who want to overthrow Pashinyan, including Armenian radicals."
