The dynamics of tuberculosis incidence in Azerbaijan (per 100,000 population): this indicator was 41.1 in 2015, while in 2025 it was recorded as 21.5.
Medianews.az, citing Milli.Az, reports that this was stated by Irada Akhundova, Director of the Scientific Research Institute of Pulmonary Diseases of the Ministry of Health, during a live broadcast.
According to her, two-thirds of the patients are men, and one-third are women.
In Azerbaijan, the dynamics of detection of MDR-TB (Multidrug-Resistant Mycobacterium tuberculosis) among new pulmonary tuberculosis patients was 53% in 2015, while in 2025 this indicator reached 86%.
"The treatment outcomes for both drug-sensitive and drug-resistant patients have been higher. The tuberculosis incidence rates among children and adolescents have significantly improved. While in 2015 there were 369 children and adolescents diagnosed with tuberculosis in the country, in 2025 the number of sick children and adolescents was 198. Even for 2024, this indicator was 278, which is evidence of a significant change."
