Kazuo Ishiguro, the 2017 Nobel laureate in literature, a British writer of Japanese origin, has passed away in London at the age of 71.

Medianews.az reports that his death has been confirmed by the Swedish Academy.

Born in Nagasaki in 1954, the writer moved to Great Britain with his family at the age of 5. Memory, forgetting, regret, and the inner world of a person have been the main themes in his works.

Ishiguro was awarded the Nobel Prize in 2017. Among his most famous works are "The Remains of the Day," "Never Let Me Go," and "The Buried Giant." The novel "The Remains of the Day" won the Booker Prize in 1989 and was later adapted into a film.
