An unexpected step back from Netanyahu: “It is not possible to overthrow the regime alone”

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu held a press conference for the first time since the start of the war with Iran.

According to Medianews.az, he said that the overthrow of the Iranian regime is only possible through the efforts of the Iranian people.

Netanyahu stated that Israel and the USA cooperate closely on issues related to Iran. According to him, an "unprecedented alliance" has been established with Washington, and daily communication is maintained with US President Donald Trump, with decisions discussed jointly.

The Prime Minister appealed to the Iranian citizens, calling on them to take action against the regime. He claimed that a new phase towards freedom is approaching in the country and stressed that the final decision is in the hands of the Iranians themselves.

Netanyahu did not directly deny questions regarding providing arms to the Iranian opposition. He stated that the activism of the Iranian people is essential for the regime change and that support may be provided in this direction. The Prime Minister also emphasized that even if the regime is not overthrown, it will seriously weaken.

Also, Netanyahu accused Iran of developing nuclear weapons with the aim of destroying Israel. According to him, Israel carries out open and covert operations to weaken Iran's nuclear capabilities. He claimed that Tehran is transferring most of its missile and nuclear infrastructure underground and that if measures are not taken in time, these systems could be protected against attacks in a short period.

Netanyahu called on the Lebanese government to disarm the "Hezbollah" group. Otherwise, Israel may intervene, and "Hezbollah" will face severe consequences.

The Israeli leader claimed that his country's military power is greater than expected and said the ongoing conflict will change the political balance in the region. He noted that Israel will continue to strike forces that it perceives as a threat.
