Ecuador's president Daniel Noboa declared a day off in the country after the national team’s victory over Germany in DÇ-2026.
Medianews.az reports that the Ecuador team defeated Germany 2-1 in the 3rd round of the group stage to advance to the playoff stage.
Following this victory, President Daniel Noboa posted on social media, thanking the players and coaching staff.
"I thank the players and head coach. Despite criticisms, insults, and other difficulties, they regrouped and brought great joy to the whole country. Tomorrow is a national holiday! Long live Ecuador!" Noboa wrote.
It should be noted that the Ecuador national team finished 3rd in Group E, securing a place in the playoffs. Although Germany lost in the final round, they topped the group with 6 points. Ivory Coast, also with 6 points, took second place based on head-to-head results and advanced to the next stage.//QOL.az
